Ah, mums – where would we be without them?
While we all appreciate our mums and everything they’ve done for us, we don’t always get the opportunity to express that appreciation.
That’s why Mother’s Day (which is fast approaching, by the way) is such a big deal!

Sign up for the Mother’s Day Classic
When: Sunday, 12th May
Where: Alexandra Gardens and the Tan Track
Looking for something a bit different from the standard lunch or dinner? Look no further than the Mother’s Day Classic!
The Mother’s Day Classic was established in 1998 by Women in Super, a group of women who work in the superannuation and finance industries. Since then, the yearly fun run has grown into a nationwide event, with fun runs in every state across Australia.
The fun run is more than just a nice way to bond – you’ll also be raising money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, which is 100% funded by the community.
Money is raised through both individual donations and the efforts of teams who participate in the fun run. Each member of the team can ask friends and family to sponsor them per kilometre that they run or walk.
Many teams also opt to organise additional fundraisers within their community like sausage sizzles, bake sales, face painting, and community challenges.
It’s an excellent way to spend your Mother’s Day, while also supporting the health and wellbeing of women, including both present and future mothers.
Registration for participation in the fun run is open until 11:59pm on the 10th of May! If you want to sign you and your family up for a fun Mother’s Day that gives back to the community, register now. Check out this year’s route here.
If you already have plans for Mother’s Day but still want to support the cause, you can host your own run! It doesn’t need to be a specific distance – it might just be a few laps around the back yard.
You can’t go wrong with the classics: Mother’s Day High Tea
If you are hoping to spoil your mum or mother figure this Mother’s Day, a high tea is the perfect way to do it. An afternoon of bubbles and delectable savoury and sweet foods – what better way to spend the day with mum?
Stamford Plaza High Tea
When: Saturday 11th May, 12-2pm and 1-3pm | Sunday 12th May, 3-5pm
Where: 111 Little Collins Street
Treat your mum to a bit of luxury this Mother’s Day!
Taking place in one of Melbourne’s most exclusive 5-star hotels, high tea at the Stamford Plaza will feature an exquisite array of savoury items including goat cheese tartlets, curry puffs and pork belly croquettes.
There will also be a variety of finger sandwiches as well as the high tea classic, scones.
Decadent desserts will follow, too. Think lime and coconut pavlova, dark chocolate eclairs, vanilla and cream mille-feuille, and red velvet macarons.
Manchester Unity Building
Date: Sunday 12th May
Where: 1932 Cafe and Restaurant, 220 Collins Street
Looking for a more non-conventional spin on High Tea? If so, you’ll want to head over to Collins Street come the 12th!
The Mother’s Day high tea at the Manchester Unity Building will be slightly different from a traditional high tea – in addition to a scrumptious menu, you’ll also enjoy an art deco dining tour.
The afternoon will begin with a delicious lunch, after which the tour will begin. You will be guided through the Manchester Unity Building, viewing Melbourne’s first escalator, the old mezzanine shopping level and penthouse, as well as the rooftop and tower.
If your mum loves her local history, lunch at the Manchester Unity Building is the perfect Mother’s Day treat. Your mum can enjoy a delicious lunch before uncovering the secrets of one of Melbourne most magnificent structures.
Mother’s Day Brunch in the CBD
Brunch is fast becoming one of Melbourne’s most popular meals of the day. As such, it’s no wonder that it’s also an extremely popular choice for Mother’s Day.
What better way is there to open Mother’s Day then with pancakes, coffee and smashed avo?
Or how about classic bacon and eggs with your whole family?
Maybe you can even hit the shops afterwards and find an extra present or two for mum – after all, she deserves it doesn’t she?
Mother’s Day brunch plans mean that your mum can enjoy the leisurely sleep-in she deserves.
