Canine lovers, pooch devotees, and puppy aficionados: listen up! The Dog Lovers Show is on THIS weekend in Melbourne!
Meet new canine friends over three days of fun at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton.
About the Dog Lovers Show
The Dog Lovers Show returns to Melbourne after a successful 2016 show. Last year, more than 30,000 attended the event, and this year is set to be bigger and better. Will you be attending?
What’s on at the Dog Lovers Show this year?
There is so much on during three jam-packed days at the Royal Exhibition Centre. Some highlights include…
More than 200 exhibitors will be showcasing the latest dog products and services throughout the three-day event.
From bedding and clothing to day minding and dental (yes, even pups need to take care of their teeth!) there’s plenty of information to gather. Best of all, you’ll virtually be surrounded by showcase pups everywhere you turn.
Celebrity vets Dr Katrina and Dr Harry Cooper will be headlining shows, while celeb guests include Neighbours and Home and Away star Andrew Morley, Steve Austin, and Peta Clarke as MC.
Peta Clarke is an animal trainer who has worked on a number of movies and productions including Babe, Superman Returns, Wolverine, and the Legally Blonde stage show, as well as hundreds of television commercials.
Learn about more than 40 breeds of dogs and see 100 breeds on show. Representatives from DOGS Australia will be on hand to offer practical advice and information to help you make an informed doggy decision.
Pedigree Rescue Dog Zone
Thinking about adding a new member to the family? Adopt, don’t shop!
The folks from Pedigree will be providing a heap of useful information around adoption and how you can provide a loving home for a new friend.
Food trucks and cafe
How could Melbourne host an event without some great food? Food on offer includes:
Cab 55 Coffee Truck
Nuts about Tella Food Truck (a dessert menu based entirely around Nutella!)
Hearts will melt as you and the kids interact with a wide range of dog breeds at the Pat-A-Pooch feature. A handler will provide a safe environment and can also help educate the family on types of breeds that might be right for them.
DockDocks makes its Melbourne debut this year after success at the Sydney show. Think “long jump for dogs” where pups will land in a pool of water, providing entertainment for the whole family.
Competing dogs can be any size and breed, and must be over 6 months old.
Doggy Face Painting
Kids can get their face painted to match their pet or their favourite breed. You can also get your photo taken at the Funny Photo Wall next to the face-paining zone.
Can I bring my own dog?
Please note that you are NOT allowed to bring your own dog to the event. Event organisers prioritise dog welfare, and without the guarantee that these dogs have received all their appropriate vaccinations, they will not be able to attend.
Please do not tie your dogs up outside or leave them in the car while you attend the event. Your best option is to leave them at home and return with a heap of gifts and treats for them!
Attending the Dog Lovers Show this weekend?
There’s no denying that dogs are part of the family: they show unconditional love and are an integral part of our everyday lives. Let’s face it: life would be very dull without dogs!
Venue parking is limited and pricy; why not opt instead to park at Le Garage? Weekend parking is a super low $10 flat rate when you book online in advance!
