Another year, another Christmas.
Hard to believe the silly season is back again. And so soon too!
Christmas time is indeed one of the busiest times of the year, what with all of the:

Luckily, Melbourne has plenty of things going on to help you out.
Our shopping is second-to-none, from high-end shops to niche hobby stores.
In addition to stores galore, the CBD also has plenty of activities going on in the coming weeks to keep the kids occupied while they’re on break!
Here are just a couple of our favourite Christmas events happening this month!

- Time: 2pm on Sunday; 8pm on Monday
- Where: Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Kings Domain
There are a couple things that positively scream Christmas. Two of the first that come to mind are carolling and the act of giving.
So why not combine the two?
That’s exactly what Carols by Candlelight offers.
Not only does this magical event let you experience the wonder that comes with sharing a night of carolling, but it’s also supporting a good cause.
First held in 1938, Carols by Candlelight doesn’t just provide guests with a night of classic and contemporary Christmas carols.
Each ticket also goes towards supporting Vision Australia, a charity focused on supporting blind and vision-impaired Australians.
Myer Christmas Windows

Running since 1955, the Myer Christmas Windows are the ultimate in Christmas decorations.
You know how every street has that one house that goes all-out with the Christmas decorations? That’s what Myer Melbourne is to Bourke Street!
With custom handcrafted decorations and vignettes, this Melbourne tradition is attended by approximately 1.2 million children and adults every single year!
This year’s theme is the beloved story of Alice in Wonderland. Take a trip with Alice and all her quirky friends as we celebrate 150 years of the Lewis Carroll tale.
The lines will get long, but they generally do move quickly. If you can, however, get there early!
Christmas at Federation Square
- Date: 1st December 2018 – 25th December 2018
- Time: varies
- Place: Federation Square
Fed Square is one of Melbourne’s most popular meeting and event spots.
It’s muscled its way into Melbourne’s consciousness, playing host to all manner of cultural events.
And this Christmas is no exception!
The City of Melbourne’s Christmas celebrations are centred around Federation Square this year. Enjoy all the Christmas staples like the giant bauble and Santa’s workshop.
On top of those however are a couple of more unique spectacles to enjoy.
If you ever find yourself passing by after dark, stop by to catch the daily projection and light show.
Running from 9pm onwards, this nightly show makes use of the flat surfaces of Fed Square to project a free light show that takes you on an incredible journey through Santa’s toy factory.
And if you’re in the neighbourhood on the 6th, 11th, 13th, 20th or 21st of December, you might even catch a performance or two!
