Events will be running on:

  • Thursday 22nd August – 7pm to 12am
  • Friday 23rd August – 7pm to 12am
  • Saturday 24th August – 7pm to 2am

White Night Reimagined gives you the flexibility to design your own experience, choosing from dozens of events and spectacles over three jam-packed nights.

And as with every White Night, experiences will be sprinkled throughout the city, giving you plenty of things to see and explore. Some of the spots you’ll want to hit up first include…

Birrarung Marr

Distance from our Melbourne parking garage: 5 minute walk

The gardens at Birrarung Marr will be transformed into a stage where you’ll witness incredible feats of The Physical Realm.

These performances will take place above the crowds creating a feeling of other worldliness, as well as incredible acrobatics. Think of it like a miniature Cirque du Soleil, and you get the general idea of what to expect!

Within the performance of The Physical Realm there will be four world-renowned works to look forward to::

All of these aerial performances are sure to wow audiences of all ages.

Each performance is inspired by popular children’s stories – you’re bound to notice at least a couple of familiar themes and stories within the performances.

Treasury Gardens

Distance from our Melbourne parking garage: 5 minute walk

If Birrarung Marr is all about spectacular physical feats, then Treasury Gardens is all about getting your mind blown!

For White Night, Treasury Gardens will be transformed into a sensory smorgasbord, with exciting new sights, sounds, tastes, smells and sensations.

The appropriately named Sensory Realm will engage every single one of your five senses with a range of audio visual presentations and physical experiences that will allow you to express yourself and broaden your mind.

Here are just a couple of experiences you can enjoy:

Pollution Pods in particular is one that we’re intrigued by.

Each pod replicates the smell, feel and level of pollution in several places around the world.

You’ll have the chance to move through different pods and experience the quality of air in different parts of the world.

This is a great installation if you’re looking to broaden your horizons, or teach the kids a valuable lesson in why the environment can’t be taken for granted.

Waterlight Graffiti is another great choice. Using crisp water-activated LCD screens, you can paint with water!

This attraction has been extremely popular with crowds from all over the world… and now, you get to experience it too!

Carlton Gardens

Distance from our Melbourne parking garage: 14 minute walk

The Carlton Gardens will offer you the chance to nourish your soul and help you connect to your spirituality.

The Spiritual Realm offers a wide range of performances and attractions to help you immerse yourself in all things mystical and spiritual. Witness mythical creatures, listen to old stories and hear messages from other worlds, with:

Of course, no White Night event is complete without a roaming DJ and a food truck to fill your belly and your ears after your spiritual needs are satisfied…

The White Night festivities continue: what’s happening elsewhere?

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)

Distance from our Melbourne parking garage:12 minute walk

Located on the other side of the Yarra, the NGV is the beating heart of Victoria’s art community.

And as such an important part of the art scene, it’s no wonder that the NGV is participating in the new and revamped White Night!

For all three nights, the NGV turns into a canvas itself with Deadly Questions. Using stunning projections, this public display depicting Indigenous art, as well as stories about Aboriginal cultures and history.

Also at the NGV will be New Zealand artist Steve Carr’s Chasing The Light. Featuring stunning drone photography snapped in the middle of a fireworks show, this spectacular installation will be in the Great Hall.

Arts Centre Melbourne

Distance from our Melbourne parking garage: 10 minute walk

Australia punches above its weight in terms of music. From oldies like AC/DC, INXS and Kylie, to more recent acts like Sia and RÜFÜS DU SOL, the Aussie music scene is something to be proud of.

And during White Night, Arts Centre Melbourne celebrates that rich musical tapestry with The Australian Music Vault.

In addition to costumes and instruments, there will also be a 360-degree immersive experience that allows visitors to experience the rich world of Australian music.

And continuing the drone theme going on next door at the NGV, Arts Centre Melbourne will be hosting Superdrone on Saturday the 24th.

Don’t let the name fool you – this free performance installation isn’t celebrating mechanical drones. Rather, Superdrone commemorates Drone Music!

Didgeridoos, ragas, hurdy-gurdies… there’s something calming and almost otherworldly about any instrument or musical style that relies on long, droning sounds.

Whatever your usual preferences in music, this is an experience well worth seeing!
